Welcome!
Our theme this year is "Bridge to the Future". This Bridge has a beginning with the JCI Senate but has no end except somewhere in the future. I have chosen, as a symbol of a future where all races and creeds come together to achieve common goals - The Starship ENTERPRISE.
First - We provide much needed scholarships to deserving future leaders of our country through the foundation and the scholarship program. Thanks to all the Senators that continue to support this endeavor now and in the future
Secondly - The future of our Senate family. We have lifelong friends that we are able to see three times a year. But as we continue to age we have some friends that have left us, some have become Ill. We must continually look to, and welcome, the new younger Senators into our organization and prepare them to assume the leadership of a growing organization. But, we cannot do that if there is not a growing Jaycee organization as well.
Thirdly - We as Senators are the future home to many Jaycees and the Jaycees are the future of the Senate - so it's important that our Return the Favor program is strong and that each state participate fully in extending the hand of friendship and assistance to the Jaycees in our states - as we will also do from the US JCI Senate to the US Jaycees. Our two organizations are arguably only ONE - differing only in the passage of time for although, we are somewhat longer in tooth to remain as active members of the Jaycees we are all Jaycees in thought and deed.
Both still believe in the tenants of our creed and for us the best work of life is to mentor, assist and encourage the younger Jaycees to be the best that they can be and to boldly go beyond what we may have achieved in our Jaycee careers to build a new growing and vibrant organization.
We can heed the message of US JCC President John Webber in defining our role in the future of the Jaycees.
As we begin our journey across this bridge our continuing mission is to bring along those new Senators who will be the future of this organization as well as those Jaycees that will be honored in the future as a JCI Senator.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead our wonderful organization. Together we can learn so much about each other and our members. Together we can share the joys of our lives and be there for each other when it is needed. As we cross the bridge together, let's remember that each of us is learning what to do every day. It's been a long road getting from there to here. Let us remember those who have served us in the past and build on the foundation they have laid before us.
